Virtual Line Dancing

This week we will start out with the new dance introduced last week, Shake Your Bacon (video).  The song is "Schuttel Deinen Speck" which is German for Shake Your Bacon.  This song has a wonderful, primal beat that is very catchy.

Following that, we will review the other new dance from last week, Gleeful Waltz (video).  It is a lovely, easy dance that will give us a chance to relax before the 3rd dance.

We'll wrap up this week with Reggae Cowboy (video).  Note, in the video the instructor does not do the turning grapevines that we do.  This dance was originally choreographed for the song, "Get Into Reggae, Cowboy" by the Bellamy Brothers, and it works well for that.  We found, however, that it also works with "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell.

I look forward to seeing you at 7:30 this Sunday!

Virtual Line Dancing

We will start this week with a review of Gleeful Waltz (video).
It is a lovely, easy dance that goes so very well to the Alicia Keys song, "If I Ain't Got You."

Next will be a review of Reggae Cowboy (video).  Note, in the video the instructor does not do the turning grapevines that we do.  This dance was originally choreographed for the song, "Get Into Reggae, Cowboy" by the Bellamy Brothers, and it works well for that.  We found, however, that it also works very nicely with "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell.

Lastly, we'll wrap up this week with "Rocket To The Sun (video).  I just saw on Facebook that Florida has allowed dancing again, and this was the dance they showed people doing at Scandals, a very fun gay country bar in Wilton Manors, just outside Fort Lauderdale.

One more thing, I have an update on Hoedown In The Dunes.  It has been rescheduled (again, and hopefully for the last time) to October 8 - 10, 2021.  By then, hopefully, the vast majority of us will be vaccinated and we can start to return to life as we once knew it!  This is such a fun event, I recommend you make plans to attend.  Fly into Grand Rapids, MI, and it is only about an hour's drive from there.

I look forward to seeing you at 7:30!

Virtual Line Dancing

Greetings, my Terpsichorean Friends!

We'll start this week with a review of "Rocket To The Sun (video).  As you may recall from last week, this is a relatively simple dance, with no tags (extra steps) and no restarts (beginning the dance again without finishing the pattern).

Following will be Bayou City Twister (video), choreographed by my good friend Aldo Watkins (happy birthday, Aldo!) when he lived in Houston, TX.  Houston is known as the Bayou City and this dance has a lot of turns, hence the name.  The song for this dance is the VERY energetic "Dance" by Twister Alley.

Let's finish the week out with another waltz line dance called Rita's Waltz (video).  I hope this won't confuse people, as it is similar to Gleeful Waltz (video) that we did over the last couple of weeks.  Sometimes it's just nice to have a calm, smooth line dance, especially after doing Bayou City Twister!!!  Rita's Waltz is done to the Scooter Lee song "Rock & Roll Waltz."

I look forward to seeing you at 7:30 this Sunday!

Virtual Line Dancing

Greetings, my Terpsichorean Friends!

We will start with a review of Bayou City Twister (video), choreographed by my good friend Aldo Watkins when he lived in Houston, TX.  Houston is known as the Bayou City and this dance has a lot of turns, hence the name.  The song for this dance is the VERY energetic "Dance" by Twister Alley.

Next, we'll do Easy On The Eyes (video).  This is one we haven't done for a while, but is a fun dance to the Teri Clark song of the same name.

Lastly, several of you have brought a dance to my attention that seems to be sweeping the world called, "Jerusalema."  This is an amazing song with people from all over the world (Literally!) doing a line dance!  There is a full version of the dance and an easy version, which comprises of only the first 32 counts, repeated.  We'll discuss tonight which one you would prefer.

I look forward to seeing you at 7:30!
